I wish I had even an elementary understanding of cricket. The boxing and football shots lead me to believe I would probably have an even better appreciation of those shots than just the technical and compositional aspects.
Your perspiration gives me inspiration. Thanks, as always, for sharing.
Love the 'Geezers Palace' shorts in # 6.
Jeff
Thanks Jeff. The mysteries of cricket are similar to the mysteries of baseball from a UK perspective!

Delightfully exposed... not a blown highlight to be found. I can only image a mid summer match under summer sun with all them wearing their whites. Great stuff amigo. Cheers.
Thanks Mark. I'm growing to love the challenge of the white kits.

Great work as always Gavin. Good job you weren't framed too tight on #5 as those bails really went flying!!
Cheers cpo! It was a real timber demolition job that one.
Thanks very much Gary.

Great photos.
How many frames are you taking per ball and is this for every ball during the match? Raw or jpeg? You must get though a lot of memory cards!
Ta crappysnapper... with the short format games like 20/20 it's folly not to shoot every ball as you will inevitably miss something. 1000+ pics isn't unusual for the cricket but it is different to other sports (like football) where I shoot far less.
I'm in jpeg most of the time as I'm usually wiring some live pics out from the event so the RAWS just slow you down.

Really top draw stuff Gavin as usual, nice and consistent.
Do you often use flash at the AM boxing? I've seen it used but I've never used it my self. What were you readings like before you turned the flash on. 1/300 @ ISO 400 @ 5.6 is nice.
I like the look of the blog as well. Did you know you can view quite large res images without your watermark from your blog?
Darren
Thanks Darren. The lighting at the ABA boxing is often absolutely terrible and the 'quality' of pics I achieve with ambient light is unacceptable by most standards... hence the flash. So the manual exposure I set with flash was well under the ambient (not hard!).
There are some issues with the ropes which can mean that having the flash to the side on a bracket is a good idea... the pic in question is shot with the flash in the hotshoe but you have to concentrate hard on the flash position as it can be blocked by the rope.
Before I turned the flash on, the exposure would have been around 1/125s at f/2.8, ISO3200 in the brighter parts on the ring.
Trying to find a way to eliminate the larger previews from the blog... but looks like I'm going to have to manually edit the code each time. That's why I've only posted a couple so far
