I know the composition is off on this picture, forgot my Rule of Thirds. If the horizon was more the top third instead of the middle would it of help this shot? If not, what should I have changed or is it too boring with no amount of help to make it a stronger image?

in my opinion, it's not a very interesting picture. it'd probably require some creative pp work to make it interesting, but it's probably not worth the time. the sky is a very boring blue slate and the bright blue lifeguard station thing (?) just looks out of place.

I like the scene and the colors as they are. The composition can be salvaged with judicious cropping. The image can be improved in several ways depending on how far from the truth you're willing to stray with post edit creativity.

The grass in the foreground works as a nice anchor. Keep as much of it as possible when you reposition the static line that is currently positioned through the center of the photo. You chose a nice perspective from which to shoot.

What I would do..
1. Add enough canvas to the top to extend the sky which will reposition t the horizon closer to the lower 1/3 of the print.
2. Fill the added portion of the top border with the same color as the sky.
3. Paint wispy clouds into the sky or composit a sky with clouds from another image.
4. Do a gradient mask to gradually lighten the sky and clouds as it gets closer to the horizon.
5. Increase the contrast (selectively and/or globally).

Keep in mind that IMHO, that the resulting image should be in addition to rather than instead of. Your image is a keeper as is (even with its ROT argument)

midnitejam - thank you for you comments, that really helps me. The PP you suggest is over my head for now. However, I love this forum, since I will save this post and when I am ready for that much PP I know exactly what to do. I will save the picture as you suggested. I am glad to know that the perspective I picked was a good choice, makes me think I am understanding composition a little more.
