Hey guys..
I'm upgrading to a Rebel XT from my G2 soon. Ahh..The wait!

So, I'm really short on cash as of now and would rather invest in better glass than spend more on the body.

Im getting a new Rebel XT body from Adorama, Amazon for around $390, which is good.
But then, Robert's imaging comes along and it has a package offer of a Rebel XT body with a Canon 28-90 III, both under proper warranty, for around $400..

So, I could'nt find many reviews about that lens. Because I'm getting it for almost nothing, I'm buying it! What's there to go wrong!

I'm also gonna invest in a nifty-fifty and the 55-250 IS in a few days..

So are my choice lined up properly?
Any words on the 28-90? And Robert's Imaging? Will there by any catch to this offer?

Nuff said about the other two lenses!
I really have worked like hell through the summer to earn this, and want this badly to step up..

With 28-90mm you'll probably lose wide angle since 28-90mm is a kit lens for full frame camera. With limited budget, perhaps you might wanna try getting 2nd hand 18-55mm IS as people would sell them from XSi kit.

The III shouldn't be a lot different then the II IMHO.

For $10, you can't really complain about the 28-90, but it's really an odd focal length on a crop body, and the image quality is your average cheap kit lens quality. Stopped down to f/8 or so it can be decent, but don't expect a lot of versatility out of it.

I have the 28-90 II with my XT. I have taken some decent pictures with it, but I've always definitely had the urge to upgrade, especially on the wide end. It really didn't get very wide at all, but I did like the tele range for a cheap walk around. But because of the lack of wide, my first lens purchase was a tokie 12-24.

I thought it did alright as a learning lens. When I was using it, I don't think I was even shooting RAW or looking at 100% crops, so I think it works when you're just learning to get proper exposure, and not using the 'greenbox' it has decent enough IQ. and since you can get it for almost nothing, I don't see how you can go wrong.

In fact, after over 2 years of use, I still haven't really replaced my 28-90, as I still don't own another 'walkaround' zoom, but it doesn't see any use anymore between my sigma 30, and 55-250.

That's what I thought. 28mm on a crop camera isnt really wide nuff...
But i was getting it anyways for almost nothing, so wats there to go wrong!!

I've seen at places that its pretty sharp F5.6 onwards, which is do-able..
And you guys are right, for $10, who's gonna argue!?!? Hahah..

maybe I'll get a 18-55 IS/non-IS later to cover the wider end without flaming the wallet as of now..

I'm sorry if I'm wrong but I don't think there another way to go wide cheaply...The kit is it..for the budget I'm on..
