Since I started taking photography seriously I feel like I've never met anyone
(in real life) who was as "geeked-out" over Canon as I am. Why is Nikon so popular?

Tell me why you choose Canon over Nikon, and why you stay strong as a fan of Canon.

I got into Canon because I found a camera (30D) that had rave reviews for the price point. Plus this forum keeps me interested.

Well, I'm worse off...I've never met anybody who's as geeked out over ANY camera as I am.

Happy now?

I don`t like how the Nikons look. Compare the design of the d3 to a Canon 1d series, and you will see what I mean. The Nikons are ugly!

Well after visiting nikonians, and then coming here Canon just felt like the better choice. Like ford vs chevy vs dodge, one just leaves a better taste in your mouth. I got the great potn community to thank for my descision.... and the lack of membership fee!

I chose Canon because my boyfriend had Nikon, & tried to convince me that I should get a Nikon as well, but the reviews I read implied the Canon gave better results for the price range I was looking at. I do shoot with the Nikon sometimes, but I prefer the feel of the Canon.

I chose Canon because the Digital Rebel XT was on sale when I bought it. Yeah, true story. I'm one of those "photographer over gear" people so you'll never find me being too gung-ho anything.

*laughs* Yeah, all of my friends roll their eyes when I start talking photography. But they're the best friends one could wish for: They chipped in together and got me my 40D for my b-day :D

I went for Canon, as when I got my first one (PowerShot A95), found that they are VERY intuitive in regards of Menu and button use. I really, really liked that and stuck with it :D
I shot a couple of times with Nikon, too but just couldn't quite get into it. The feel was not "right" :c)

Could be as simple as this.

Product placement and stealth marketing has real power.

It was the brand my dad used (and still uses, he still shoots strictly B&W film with his AE-1 and I doubt he'll give it up any time soon!)....so naturally I rolled with canon....

Although, Nikon's D300 has just about got me converted...I'm currently saving up for a camera in that dollar range and if Canon doesn't impress me with a nice 5D update I'm probably going with the noink.....

But not before I get me a Holga and a bunch of 120mm film :D Can't wait :)

I liked the way the XT felt in my hands over the Nikon when I went to try them out. I don't mind Nikon's, but I feel the need to give Nikon owners crap when I'm around them. It's all out of fun though. I had to give my best friend crap when she bought a Nikon S600 instead of the Canon equivalent.
