I was up in St. Joseph again for the weekend. It was cloudy most of the day, but I trekked down to the pier and got some interesting shots. It was neat to see the oncoming storm coming over the lake. Plus I got to try out my new CPL

C&C welcome as always

I'm surprised no one has commented on these. I think they're great! I like the last two best, and the only reason the third might edge out the second is that I would have liked to see the light in the second one. Terrific shots!

Composition and color are great. The orange/blue compliment really make the pictures 'pop'.

My eye keeps getting drawn to #2 and #3 looks slightly out of focus.

Thanks!

#3 is slightly out of focus, my arm bumped the tripod :o I couldn't throw away that composition though.

I like #1 the most. #2 and #3 seem cut off to me because they don't display the length/entirety of the pier/lightouses that #1 does. My only gripe about #1 is that the horizon is in the middle of the frame. I wonder how it would look otherwise...

Great work either way. :D

Nice job! I'll bet this was Friday night. I was working at the ballpark (in Grand Rapids), and even though we got soaked, there was an incredible sunset after the storm. It made me want to start bringing my camera to work with me. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks!

These were actually taken on Saturday. I remember St. Joseph got some drizzle in the late afternoon on Friday, but that was about it.

Gary, I like (love) #1 bet. Great leading lines and a much broader range of color and light than the otehrs (which are beautiful but not the standout #1 is imo). #3, I just don't like the people in it but that's just me. At what time of day did you take this? Exif says a time that makes nos sense for that lighting. I live on Erie and have been waiting for the right moment to get the 17-40 down there...thanks for the motivation and great work!

I like the first one. I would have liked to see more sky and less water though (just my opinion).

Keep on shooting!

#3 is my favorite. Now you just have to figure out a way to clear everyone off there.. except for two ppl on the very edge :)

Yeah the EXIF in all my photos is off for some reason, I'll have to sort that out. Anyhow, the photos were taken around 9:00-9:20 right as the sun was setting. I usually camp out a half hour before the sun goes completely down, and a little bit after to catch the glow in the sky and make sure I don't miss any good light.
