I'd have a lens on each body (30D and 40D for me). One hung round my neck and the other hanging off my shoulder. No fumbling, no dust, no fuss.

If you don't want to put it on your shoulder, and it doesn't go on a belt, where do you think it's gonna go?

If you want to carry your kit with you, you're going to have to skip the idea of making a fashion statement. Or get a pink cameraphone.

There is always the prison wallet....

Thank you for making me smile - this is the funniest thread I've read in a while. (hey, that rhymes!)

... can you see anyone adding "pink camera phone" to their gear list on here? :-)

How about wearing cargo pants...?

I've carried my camera with a 24-105 onboard, a 10-22 in one knee pocket and a pair of flashes (540EZ and 430EX) and wireless triggers in the other knee pocket. You walk a little funny because of the weight, but it's all right there and very convenient. And you still have "regular" pockets available for other stuff like wallets/keys/phone.

No bags/belts to worry about...

To paraphase a popular comment:

Is that a Canon lens or are you happy to see me?

I love doing concert photography, but i really dont want to bring a 'bag' in... i need to have full freedom of movement when i'm shooting concerts, but i'd like to bring more than just my kit lens in, now that i've got a 10-22 and the 1.8 50mm.

How do you bring only a lens or two in? are there special lens pounces that you can hang off of yourself (while staying secure)... obviously i can't put it in a pocket, otherwise i would.

i shoot a lot of concerts, and use a large timbuk2 messenger bag. in it, i can fit the following:

5D w/ grip
30D w/ grip
70-200 f/2.8 IS
24-70 f/2.8
sigma 15 fish
canon 50 f/1.4
canon 85 f/1.8
canon 135 f/2
420EX

plus the usual cards, spare batteries, off-camera flash cord, notebooks, blower, etc.

yeah it's heavy but i can sling it over my shoulder just fine and get lenses in a hurry.

I usually use this. basically an oversized fanny pack. Carries my 30D or 1DmkII in the main pouch sideways. A 50mm lens can be attached comfortably to the body. One side pouch for the extra lens and the other pouch for extra batteries, memory and a lens cloth. I can usually slide my wallet inside it too. Flash, if required slips into a pocket on the cargo pants I wear.
It's no Batman utility belt but it holds a bottled water in the main pouch while I have the camera out of it.

Unfortunately not everyone has a waist smaller than their hips, so cargo pants filled with lenses might go sliding to the floor unless supported with suspenders! ;) But then I suppose the Lowepro cases on Lowepro belt would to sliding in that direction too, but you could sling it over the shoulder like a bandolier, or attach the Lowepro harness to the belt.

PS I am a relatively trim 34" waist, with hips

Take a look at the Domke F-5XB. It can be shoulder-slung or worn on a belt as you prefer.

Crumpler 5MDB, it feels small when you carry it, perfect for two lenses and some stuff and tucks away with out being big or bulky. I thought it too small at first but am becoming very attached to it. Mine is red so it looks more like a purse but it's small enough that black would kind of dissappear and small enough that it wouldn't bump into people in a standing crowd situation.

haha, i'm not trying to make a fashion statement.. mostly just don't want to have things sticking out my sides while im in a standing room area, mashed up against other people.

Looks like of the options that i saw, the lowepro belt case (or maybe the fanny pack), crumpler, or smaller messenger type bags is the way to go.

just in case anyone reads this thread... this is what i've gone with.

http://www.amazon.com …rel&qid=1219438758&sr=8-2 (external link)

Great bag for textbooks/laptops... as well as camera equipment.

BUT... it has to be the velcro bag, the one with the 2 rectangles sewn on front... the other one is horrible.. so make sure u see the 2 sewn on rectangles, or don't get it.

It has 2 side pockets for water bottles, or your gorillapod/speedlite/etc. On the inside, a big pouch that i put my big lens, and body in. And 2 outer pouches for my smaller lenses and a small notebook.

If you want pictures of it, i posted some to amazon... if you have questions, feel free to contact me!

What about a Lowepro Toploader 70 AW with a lens case or two on the sides?
