There was a guy on my car forum that was a sponsor that was ripping off the cashback deal like no other. What he did is he would sell a set of 4 coilovers and list each one, so the buyer could get 20-30% off each coilover. Instead of a $1300 coilover set costing $1100 with the 30% cashback ($200 max); it was costing the buyer $908. That's a good way of saving and making tons of money right there, and the sponsor was able to move a lot more inventory. Nothing like saving $392 just by changing how you list the item.

And this is wrong why again?

THose should have been listed in ebay motors. THose werent eligible for the CB.

I hope they (ebay/MS/paypal) don't catch on and deny the buyer's rebate amount!!!

I received a bunch of instant rebates however... prior to that
I have a few where I needed to wait 60 days. I have a flurry of
them coming up in the next week.

Can I ask, have people been getting theirs? I tried to be careful
and not stack coupons or resell any of the items I bought (on ebay
at least ;)

Thanks!

DaveL, I've gotten mine with no problems, even one I stacked. You should be good to go, as long as it's showing in your Cashback account.

I read of some folks that had problems - the reason given was that Live changed their website or something. I think those folks ended up getting their issues fixed. I have screen shots of everything just in case ;)

Too bad this went away, but by the end it was almost pointless because some sellers raised their prices.

I'm not particularly saying it's wrong. I just found it funny how he found a loop hole in how the system operates.

When I bought my 28-135 and 50 f/1.8 lens all the listings had sub headings for the MS cashback. The sellers used that as a driving force to sell their products on Ebay for a higher price.

It was great, especially at first, but I think the sellers are one reason why it went away. The savings from Live dried up and folks stopped using it.

Hmmmm...I have about $50 pending with 0 days until I can claim it and it won't let me claim it. Any ideas?

Edit: Yep, I got an email this morning saying I could claim it.

All of mine usually took the full 7 days to get to PP.

Give it 24 hours. If it is still pending, contact live.com.

I found when it says "0" days until you can available it means < 24hrs. Every one of mine were ready the next day or less. Look at the apporximate time you made the txn and/or when Live received notification to get a pretty good approximation of when...and remember they process this stuff in batches so there will be some time +/- when the transaction occured.

FYI, after claiming them my cashback has taken about 2.5 days to be posted to my PP account. Not bad at all for the cashback I received from the program...

Well, I am about to purchase a couple of items through eBay that I had been holding off until the live.com rebates returned. Since that doesn't appear to be the case, I need to go ahead with the purchases.

You can thank me later when the live.com rebates return the day after I make my purchases.

LOL, thank you!

I waited a while too, then bought elsewhere. Without the 30% Live discount the stuff I was interested in were too close to retail.
