I think this may be some sort of Longhorn Beetle, but I couldn't find a match on BugGuide.net. Anyone here know what it is? I found it dead beneath my Mountain Ash, possibly from the borer spray I applied to the tree—and possibly discolored from either the spray, death, or the sun, or all three!

It was about 5/8"-3/4" long.

How about it! I hope he wasn't bothering my apple trees! I looked at borers too, but I was focused on the metallic borers which have bothered my white birches.

I found another exit hole on the Mountain Ash tonight! Grrr! (<- hey wait, is that your son? :D)

Thanks for the ID.

Actually it resembles him a little bit! They both have the same ears. :p Dr. Evil was my favorite cat that passed away in 2006. His picture is my avatar. I had to bottle raise him, hence the "mom" part.

Sorry about your kitty, and I love his name! Thanks again for finding that ID. I can be extra vigilant now.

I read it as "Dr. Evil" and thought the smilie looked like it was evil ... but I can see where you'd see "devil" in both!
