I'm running a 2.4Ghz Socket 473 (?) Celeron on my media box. The DVB-T/MPEG-2 card does a good job of offloading video decoding from the CPU.

oh ok... I didn't think the DVB-T/MPEG-2 cards decoded x264 stuff though... depends what you're watching, doing on it I guess. Just something I read on some HD sites about 'recommendations'.

Hmmm, I had to go look...

The box (Leadtek DVB-1000T or something), states it supports video recording in MPEG 2/3/4 formats and Dig. TV in MPEG-2. This doesn't really shed any light on the x264 status, but my box plays x264 videos without a hitch, but then I'm only using standard def. as I don't have an HD TV (if I did, it might be a different matter altogether).

bannedPermanent ban

hey everyone, hope all are doing well :) I've been too busy playing Oblivion on the new PC the past week, hence not much posting on my part ;-)a

Didn't have the money to go to the V8s @ Willowbank today and yesterday, pity, would have been good experience. Not many bugs in the backyard, so keeping quiet.

Does anyone know if there are compatibility issues between the original 1D and the new 430ex II and 580ex II flash units? I sold my old 1D via EBay (buyer got it at a bargain price as well, of $650). He's had it for just under 2 weeks and SMS'd me the other day that it wasn't working with either flash - just black shots. Flash units were working on his 30D. He ended up taking it into repairs and it cost him $150 :( I tested it immediately prior to shipping it to him and it worked fine. Either he's very unlucky, or there's some funky issue going on. I was led to believe that the mark II versions of the flash units would work with the 1D, just only ttl v1 metering...any ideas? He's pretty pi$$ed with me I think, probably thinks I've done the dirty on him, which I haven't :(

Evening everyone.

Aaron and I went out on one of his mates boats today at Geelong in Corio Bay.

Pretty much the whole day it rained and at times it absolutley bucketed down. I was warmer when I went to the snow a couple of weeks ago, and then when we went back over the bay to the boat ramp at top speed with rain pelting in our faces......brrrrr.....!

Aaron caught a fish....

This is pretty much unedited, this is how bleak it was for most of the day. The water was so still, the calm before the storm...
IMAGE: http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s130/KinnonBellPhotography/geelong-3.jpg

and some more bleakness
IMAGE: http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s130/KinnonBellPhotography/geelong-5.jpg

And....where's my zoom lens when I need one. I'm pretty sure this was the geelong footy club doing some kind of team building exercise. Water temp was 9.8 degrees, and the funny thing was that some of the blokes had umbrellas....why bother!?!?
Really crappy pic, but this is a 100% crop of the image.

Yes, that's a Queensland license plate. He has a flickr (external link), and hails from Ipswich from what I gather.

Why didn't you invite him over? ;)
