I've noticed you have my name on the beginning of this thread. I'm up for any meets you might have.
I've meet Greg_C and Willstar which boosted my interest back here on POTN. I've kinda got hooked on another forum but might have to expand my interests further and get out and about more. You might even convert me but will have to be good.
Hope you meet some of you soon.
Julie-Anne

Welcome back Julie-Anne.

I'd like to get out for a meet again sometime to actually shoot... We met up on Saturday, but it ended up being just for coffee and a yarn :) oh and monster beer battered chips :)

It's right under the Albion Overpass and about 200 metres away from Albion train station. :)

I really need to have a nice long talk to Murray about that web page...

Thanks Rob, I think I know where you mean - cheers. :)

I heard about the coffee and yarns. I'll try and keep in touch for any shoots. I enjoy getting out and about and learning more about my camera. Especially from people who know what they are talking about AND I have plenty to learn. I'm really only getting into photography a lot lately. Always enjoyed it but knowing there is plenty to learn I want to do it when ever I can these days. You can learn so much off different people. Everyone has something to tell.
By the way I don't mind those battered chips. lol.

For the photographic opportunity, of course :p

Yep, fired a flash into the background because it was very dark red and I only had 4 ft between subject and wall - what looks like spill was intentional with a red gel thru an umbrella camera right. It looked ok when I shot it but next time I'll dial it down a bit.

It was a very cramped untidy room with no clear space to work with but, I'm reasonably happy especially for a first attempt.

Ah fair enough. Lighting the background is something I do a fair bit as it's quite effective, and having caught myself with odd spill before I thought I'd ask :)

The red gel thing can work very well, but in this case you might have been better without or with a contrasting cool colour instead, although it's still quite effective as it is.

Wow, that's a big word :p

I was going to let it slide, but seeing Peter said what he said, I'm going to tell you a story now. ;)

Okay, it was some random day about halfway through year 4. I was at home with the flu and was watching the educational programs that ABC had on in the morning. After I had seen all those, this maths program came on about complex shapes for students in year 7 or something. One of them was the dodecahedron.

Fast forward to the last day of year 4. We had split up into four groups of about six or so. The teacher would write a letter on the blackboard and each of the groups had to come up with the longest word starting with that letter. The winning team won one point for each letter of their word. When the teacher said "d" I started jumping up and down in a mad frenzy 'cos I had just remembered that maths program. We were the last group to write ours up, and the previous three groups had only come up with short words like "duck" or "dinner". Needless to say, we trounced the other teams... :D

Heads up - if you're at your computer right now, run don't walk, outside to catch the pretty sky :)

Thanks Nick,

To the BCG crowd.
On second thoughts I won't be at BCG tonight. Not feeling the best and very tired. I'd rather fall asleep in my lounge chair than driving the car on the way home at 10:30pm tonight.
