night all...

'night Greg. ;)

EDIT: seems they've made the time-out between posts longer from 15 to 20 seconds...

I guess some people were posting just that little bit too much too quickly. ;)

Oh, and I found out too that the remote trigger for the 400D doesn't fit the 40D. Anyone got any suggestions, ie preferred brand etc for the 40D?

Well the Canon ones are the RS80-N3 and the TC80-N3. The latter one is the one I convinced Johnno to purchase recently as it has a timer built in.

Which is also the one dad uses with his 5D.

Ahh yeah - saw those, although they're still wired. The one I had was similar to this (external link)one - it was B&H not Cameras Direct. I still want wireless.

Well we had fun today at the Strobist meet at Alkira (Chappel Hill/Kenmore area).
I managed to get the shot I was after, a tribute to Chase Jarvis (external link) and his "bank robber" photo.

After that though my creativity took a dive, but I still managed a few decent shots (which I've not yet processed).

I wonder how that'd go for really long exposures... would it chew battery ?

For the type of photos I use a remote for, wired is just fine.

Thanks Rob. It is somewhat cinematic, although there are a couple of technical flaws, but overall, I think it does the job.

Guess it would chew it up somewhat.

Just looked at the wired one on B&H - lead is only 80cm long.

Why would you need it any longer ? Half the time my remote's chord is attached to the tripod so it doesn't accidentally pull out of the 400D's socket (I don't believe this is an issue with the N3 connector - sure isn't with the earlier T3 connector).

Indeed! :)

Glad to see you also got some good shots - not that I expected any less.

Cheers, definately lots to learn when you start using multiple light sources.
