Posted a few shots from Oxley and Jindalee this morning in the POTNAC thread here not long ago.

Was up from fairly early to join the rest of the family pull everything out from my grandparents place at Oxley. Wanted to get a look at the blocked Centenary Highway but mum wanted me to make sure the grandparents had actually left their place.

Hmmm been ages since I come in. Who is affected ? Lost a cam or two (hopefully nobody ?)

So, anybody going to look around the city how our crisis stricken city looks like. It would be my first time seeing the devastation. I hope the road/streets would be more walkable now.

Spent the day helping family clean. This is Ryan St Hill End. Makes me think how lucky we were, we're nowhere near the river so it's not really been a problem for us.

No.1 The Brisbane River is about 100m to the left of this shot.

IMAGE: http://www.steadyhands.net/photogallery/albums/temp/2011/20110115-091713.jpg

No.2 The water reached up to the top of the handrail, ie this is about 1m of water through the second floor of the house. The one on the left is my wife's Uncles place. Nothing was saved. The rear of the house had a lovely pool in a tropical setting. It's hard to image what my wife's Aunt and Uncle are going though.

IMAGE: http://www.steadyhands.net/photogallery/albums/temp/2011/20110115-091723.jpg

No.3 A new version of life on the streets, you whole life dumped onto the street to be carted away to the dump.

IMAGE: http://www.steadyhands.net/photogallery/albums/temp/2011/20110115-091729.jpg

No.4There would have been 3m of water in this street.

It is going to be tough for people experiencing all these. It looks very unsettling, hope no irreplaceable goods are lost in the process. Time only would heal this. Great street shots, Greg.

Anyone got any clues on a 17-85 that doesn't focus? It just does a kind of "mini-hunt" when trying to latch on to the subject. Started unscrewing the case but a micro-mini screw was too much (or little, actually) for the little screwdriver.

Is it common, fixable in your collective opinions?

Yeah - figured that was a short term fix. It's my sis-in-law's lens - she's not as into the MF as I might be.

Well I'd say the only option is to take it somewhere, or send it to Canon. If sending to Canon, tell them a "top" price your willing to pay for repairs without consultation, and if it's going to be near the cost of say the new 15-85mm lens, then ditch it and buy new.

Hello all,

Just a small note to say hello. I have not been on here for some time as of work and home stuff. I have still been out time to time taking photographs.

I have just upgraded to a 7D and today picked up a 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS USM for $1000 from the shop, it seems to work very well so far as i just spent the afternoon photograph my brother inlaws hockey game.
