A big group of friends and I camped for a night at Horning's Hideout, a favorite spot of ours near North Plains, Oregon. Since it's just outside Portland, we usually get to have several music festivals held there each year. This, however, was just an impromptu camp out. Later in the night, I asked some friends of mine with excellent light-dancing skills to experiment with long exposures coupled with LED flowstaffs (external link), sticks, and poi (external link). We all enjoyed it so much, I think this might become a regular thing for us to play with.

C&C is very welcomed and encouraged. I'm hoping to find some cool ideas to try with these guys since I'm sure this is only one of many shoots we do together.

very cool (coming from a raver in a different life)!

5 is my favorite, but the guy is holding a cup and there is a small light smudge to the right of the photo. Other than those two small things its really cool.

they bring back memories I probably shouldn't be able to remember;);)

Also,

If you haven't already, try a product called Photon Micro-Light II. It's a very bright LED keychain that comes in many colors, 8 different colors I believe. They cost 15 bucks each. It can make very cool light trails in the right hands. These were in every ravers tool bag back in the day.

Also try bicycle safety lights like the ones made by Bell. Some have different speed flash patterns that would add breaks in the color steaks with long exposures.

I'll try to think of some more light props for you.

Please share No.5 Exposure parameters... I believe a complete circle of light (1 sec ) might be enough.... or you need at least 2 complete light circles? How to get the man face still for at least 1 1/2 or 2 secs??

Sure you can increase the circle speed but otherwise the light effect will not be the same.

#2 is nice, would have been nicer if less motion blurred.
#5 is nice as well.
