Awesome.
Is there any way to have a consolation bracket for the NFL fantasy leagues? I know I've always had them in my Yahoo leagues. Its nice for those of us that don't quite make the cut for the championship playoffs, gives us something to do.

I have wondered about doing this before and still am unsure. The consolation brackets have one downside and that is by way of free agents. As we know, the team with the worst records have first dibs of the waiver line. It would suck to have a player go down on a championship team and have someone in the consolation bracket pick up a player that the championship team could have used. Other than that it would certainly extend the year for everyone so something we should consider for next year. Mike, The Keeper of the Archive

You know, predictions, rants, player thoughts, etc. So here are some of the ones that stood out the most. DDCSD wrote in post #6261492 No, not at all. But I do think the Chargers are over-rated. They haven't been nearly as dominating since Merriman got busted for doping...... The Chargers were overrated. But they finished strong and won the division at 8-8. WOW! AngryCorgi wrote in post #6266622 NFC East Notes from Week #1: *The Cowboys need work on their secondary, but the offense is as good as last year. The O-line is absolutely abusive! *The Eagles beat up a really, really bad Rams team. I don't know how much of the game was Eagles domination and how much was Rams suckage. The Rams looked like they absolutely couldn't care less about playing football. *The Giants' D is still very good, the Redskins' O...not so much. If the Giants are to succeed at defending their title, the offense is going to have to play more consistently. Not too far off Tom. As the season played out though some of these were a little off. PhatPhoto wrote in post #6273158 The Bears have something to prove this year. So who ever has the Bears D this year is going to get a lot of points. Also watch Matt Forte will break a couple of records this year as a rookie. Yes, I am a Bears fan !!! Dam I love football season !!!! Forte did break some records! Good call! But the Bears D was not all that good. In2Photos wrote in post #6325081 And I get Steve Smith back from his two game suspension. He will be fresh and ready to tear up that Vikes D! Boy did Smith tear up the Vikes! NOT! But he did finish the year strong, making it to the Pro-Bowl after missing two games. In2Photos wrote in post #6326239 He's scared! He knows his Cowboys got exposed Monday night. They better shore up that defense! The D was great at times, but inconsistent. AngryCorgi wrote in post #6357453 And now you chumps (particularly Mike) see what's what. How 'bout them Panthers. LOL GO COWBOYS!! Click here for the truth (I'm talking to you, Mike!) Looks like Carucci was a little premature in that article! How bout them Panthers Tom? In2Photos wrote in post #6357528 That's fine. It is still early. I have no doubt they will choke in the playoffs (as usual). Or, not even make it to the playoffs (Cowboys) AngryCorgi wrote in post #6357850 And if they do, then the Panthers can watch it on their couches at home. Enjoy that! What's that Tom? Yes, the Panthers will enjoy week one of the playoffs from the couch (as the #2 seed!). Darsk47 wrote in post #6398805 The Bills !! The Bills ! 4 and 0 there kids. Yah sure they beat the hapless Rams, but four and oh is still four and oh. !!!! Oh boy. The Bills, what can we say, that was pretty bad. 5-0 and finished 7-9. Oy! AngryCorgi wrote in post #6402006 Wow...you guys beat.......atlanta....so impressive. Too bad the worst team in the NFC East would win out in the NFC South. The Skins/Cowboys games are always unpredictable. I had a feeling we'd lose and actually picked up Campbell in one of my Yahoo leagues. I'm not delusionaly about what goes on in the NFL. Anyone who relishes in beating a bunch of scubs whose coach sounds like a HS football coach (listen to the post game speeches he gives --- like he's talking to children) must be delusional. The only weapons they have is maybe Roddy White and Turner. You stop those two and the rookie QB looks like a rookie QB. Well the Falcons turned out to be a pretty good team (as much as it pains me to say it). I don't think there is any team looking forward to playing them down the stretch but rookie QBs don't fair well in the post season. In2Photos wrote in post #6402130 So much hate Tom! Don't take losing so personal. I did say that they beat lowly Atlanta with the rolleyes smiley, meaning that it wasn't that big of a win. But a win is a win. The Panthers have shown that if they get into the playoffs they can be a dangerous team. Winning the NFC South won't be easy and I think it will take winning the South for us to get in with both wildcards coming out of the East. I too am not delusional about good teams. The East is the best division in football (again). The NFC champion will have to go through (or come from) that division. Seriously, chill out. It is friendly banter. It was said at the beginning of the League this year that you can only talk trash if you can take it back in return. Don't lose site of the fact that this is all for fun. If it stops being fun we won't do it anymore. The NFC does have to go through the East (unless somehow the Giants lose) and the Panthers didn't need to win the South to make it in, but they did. AngryCorgi wrote in post #6409956 Well, you'll outperform your Puddytads and actually make the playoffs. I made it to the finals in one league. I hope the Panthers get further than me. In2Photos wrote in post #6446367 Man I have to stop reading "Start 'em, sit 'em" on NFL.com. I sat several players this week based on their recommendations and started others instead. Not once did that add any points to my teams, in fact I lost big points in one league. I had 76 points sitting on the pine! I still won that game, but man it got real close. Is this year not another strange year in football? Other than the Giants and Cowboys I don't think there is another good team from last year that still looks good (the Pats may have won, but they still don't look good to me). The Steelers have struggled, but won, but the Chargers, Seahawks, Packers, Vikings, Jags, Colts, and Bucs have all been pretty crappy at times. And the NFC finally appears to have leapfrogged the AFC this year. NFC teams are going to have a tough time making the playoffs and the NFC East is gonna come down to the last week of the season it seems like. Those guys might not have anything left in the tank for the payoffs at this rate. Man I love the NFL! Well the Steelers, Vikes and Colts turned it around, the Bucs fell flat on their face at the end of the year, and the AFC turned out to be pretty damn good. The East was no contest, but Philly pulled out a spot in the last week with a big win! In2Photos wrote in post #6446726 You do realize though that right now the best team is the deadskins! And what about the damn Falcons? 3-2 with THAT team? It just ain't right. They should be 1-4! Them damn Falcons again. breal101 wrote in post #6447123 I warned you about those damn Falcons, they should suck. Yet? I agree about the start 'em and sit 'em column, it is best ignored or just do the opposite and be better off. I need 4 points from two Saints players tonite for a win in L 1, I can't say I'm real confident I'll get them. Looks like you may have tagged old Moot Point this week, that's good for my division, thanks. You were dead right about the Falcons! AngryCorgi wrote in post #6447232 Actually, no. You must have forgotten completely about the Giants. They have beaten (and badly) the Redskins. I think, in all fairness, they have to be considered better. They nuked the seahawks like they were a garbage college team from the WAC! The Redskins are the most "surprising", but it's hard to argue against the G-men in terms of raw dominance. Spot on Tom. In2Photos wrote in post #6447317 Your welcome, but I can assure you I was not trying to win for you. Nope, I hadn't forgot about the Giants. They did beat the skins in week 1, but I don't think they did it "badly". Wasn't it 17-6? The skins played awful football for a few weeks, but they seem to have that out of their system. The Seahawks are NOT a good team. Their only win was against the Rams! The Giants barely beat the 0-5 Bengals and needed OT to do it. The Giants also beat the Rams. So they haven't exactly beat great teams! Therefore, while the Giants are at the top of the standings I give the edge to the Skins. The Skins have also already played their 3 road division games! And they won 2 of 3! The Giants are still a good football team, but as they say, "there is still a lot of football left to be played". Thank goodness too, cause I am lovin' every bit of it! The Giants were better, the Skins were not, and I was right about the Seahawks. DDCSD wrote in post #6466621 Does anyone else hear that? Sounds like a mirror breaking and police sirens........ Or is that just the cowpokes' season shattering? It didn't shatter until week 17, but it did shatter. AngryCorgi wrote in post #6472505 It could be worse. I heard McNabb delusional statements last week. Apparently there is NO team in the NFL better than the iggles and they should be 5-0 right now. Interesting vision from your leader there. Or maybe they should have had a tie. In2Photos wrote in post #6492938 New rule! NO VOODOO! What a time to take a flop Giants! Thanks! You know, I said earlier that 3 of their 4 wins were against crappy teams. Is this the true Giants team? No problem Derek! Manning finally showed up for me this year. And Portis is the man again! Felling sorry for the cowpokes? Um, NO! NEVER! BTW, I hope the good Panthers team shows up this week against your Aints! Portis was on again off again! Manning finally came around. breal101 wrote in post #6494035 You know I always root for Jake except for two weeks out of the season. I'm just hoping the Saints don't go in the tank like LSU did. What's with those damn Falcons? What a lucky bunch to beat the Bears that way, I think we can both agree that they need to be stopped! That kick cost the Bears a playoff spot! AngryCorgi wrote in post #6494225 Wow. Carolina. 3 points. I knew they were bad, but not that bad. Wow. Carolina has now scored at least 28 points in every game since week 10! Scary offense, but the d is suspect right now. DDCSD wrote in post #6495761 Wow, I think the 'pokes are getting desperate. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3643295 A first and a third for Williams? I'm not sure he's that good and I don't think Crayton is that bad either. That's a lot to give for a #2 receiver, especially when you're #1 complains that 19 looks out of 60 offensive plays isn't enough. I think they should have looked for a DB http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3643240 So, was Roy Williams worth those picks? Not if you just look at this year. AngryCorgi wrote in post #6500174 Roy WILL NOT be the immediate replacement, as TO is set to be in Dallas through 2011 and Williams will be through 2013. He may be a long-term replacement, but they will play together for at least 3-1/2 seasons. Is "D.R.A.M.A." an acronym for something? If you are going to "spell" it out it is traditionally like this: "D-R-A-M-A". And yes, we have 3 young corners, this is true. They are playing fairly well though, considering who they've played. You'll see the finger on the blitz button from here on until some people come back from injuries. Roy should be playing in a week or 2 and will help the 3rd-down nickel run-D, which has suffered a lot. I can gaurantee you this: When we play Tampa in 2 weeks, we aren't going to be putting up only 3 points. You are right they put up more than 3 points. AngryCorgi wrote in post #6500334 Heck, I'll bet you some players in FFL#2 that they put up more than 17 points on Tampa! ...so, do you think the carolina pussy-cats are getting a W this week? But not 17! In2Photos wrote in post #6527529 Do you still believe this? The Bucs have a much better D than the Rams! I have to say that if B Johnson plays next week instead of Romo, it could be a LONG day for your 'Girls. BTW, how bout them Panthers? Well, the Bucs used to have a good D. Kiffin leaving is going to hurt them pretty bad I think. In2Photos wrote in post #6534085 True he is not very mobile. Not many QBs are though. If he gets time, he is a very good QB. You know, a few weeks ago I had this game marked as a lock to win. But the Cards seem like a legit team and they might get Boldin back as well. Should be a good game. The team is not playing good on the road this year, a polar opposite from last year. But have you watched any of the games he has played, particularly the ones with the INTs? 4 of the 5 INT were tipped balls, the first actually being caught and then almost handed off to the Bears. Not his fault one bit! And against the Bucs he had three tipped balls for pics. That is down to luck more than anything. But he did not play good against the Bucs at all. He missed several throws and probably should have been picked off even more. The TDs are down this year because we can actually run the ball. Stewart has 5 TDs that normally Jake would have to have thrown! Defense wins championships! Ask Eli, Rothlisberger, and to an extent Peyton (after all the Defense stepped up when Peyton wasn't playing well during those playoffs). OK, so Jake still just wins games! And hopefully defense isn't required to win a championship, because right now the Panthers don't seem to have one. DDCSD wrote in post #6573039 Was it just me or was that Giants-Steelers game about the most all-around physical game in about the last 5 years? Man they were knocking the snot out of each other. That was a good game, and the beginning of some great games in the final weeks. DDCSD wrote in post #6713412 I wouldn't have given them that high of a grade or nice of a title. Absolutely pathetic. I've never said this before, but I think it may finally be time for Andy Reid to go. He's put together some amazing teams, and the Eagles have pretty much always been competitive since hes been there (He does have the most wins of any NFC coach in the last ten years), but the play calling and general awareness of the Eagles has been miserable the last couple of years. I find myself watching the games just screaming "What the **** are you thinking?". 78 plays and Westbrook is involved in 17 of them? 60 pass plays and 18 runs? In a tie game? You don't call 60 pass plays unless you're down by 14-30 points the whole game. There is simply too much talent on this team to play like they have been. Remember Tom, no one hates the Eagles as much as an Eagles fan. What do you think of Reid and McNabb now Derek? Calzinger wrote in post #6720593 Hey, maybe the Eagles should pair up with Mike Singletary so he can join in on the bad play calling! I'm still amazed at that call to hand off to some no-name RB at the goal line for the game winning touchdown with three seconds left. They had every chance of winning it and blew it on a stupid play call. Singletary got it done though! Good for him! I hope he does well. Calzinger wrote in post #6722593 I wouldn't rule them out yet. The Cowboys still have their own problems even with Romo back and the Skins are solid but, well, nothing spectacular. Their schedule looks kinda scary though, with NYG and WAS ringin' bells. I wanna see how Westbrook matches up against Baltimore's defense. I was shocked to see the Giants make it so easy, but their OL is beastly. What ya'll think of Farve's chances in Tennessee? Are these Titans for real? Are the Jets for real?... Apparantly the Jets are NOT for real! DDCSD wrote in post #6722652 Well, the Giants have the East pretty much locked up. The problem is, I'm thinking that only one other NFC East team will make the playoffs, simply because they will beat the snot out of each other until the end of the season. The Eagles have one of the more difficult schedules to finish the season (especially the last 2 games), and they haven't shown that they can start and finish a game strong this year. I hope that they pull it off, they certainly have the talent. I just can't be confident from what I've seen this year so far with the coaching. As for the Titans and Jets.... I have no idea on either. I just can't see either surviving the playoffs, but the NFL is a strange beast. I Love This Game!!! Only one other team came out of the East and it was the Eagles. Gotta love the NFL! DDCSD wrote in post #6749417 The only thing I care about is that Deangelo is making me very happy that I didn't drop him. I was literally one click away from dropping him, but figured I'd hold on to him in case Stewart got hurt or hit the "wall". DeAngelo for MVP!!!!!!!!! He was the man in the second half of the season. NO one played better! DDCSD wrote in post #6752049 Looks like the Kevin Kolb era has been delayed for another couple of quarters..... I think Andy Reid can feel the heat. I don't expect him or McNabb to be in Philly next year. Hmmm..... I wonder if Bill Cowher is getting bored of being retired yet? Cowher turned down the Cleveland job. Wonder why? breal101 wrote in post #6755627 My only accurate prediction this year was that the Falcons would be better than most people thought. What a fight in the NFC South, the only division with all teams over .500. After seeing the Saints last night I'm wondering which team will show up next week. Those pesky Falcons are still hanging around! AngryCorgi wrote in post #6756041 I wasn't even going to comment about the Eagles game. There's enough salt in that wound already! You have my sympathies. My team is just waiting for a big enough stage to choke on, and it should come in pittsburgh (assuming they don't take the opportunity to fall apart on thanksgiving day) in two weeks. I can't hardly figure out any teams in the NFL this year. All I know is this: My Longhorns are going to wind up getting screwed by the coach's poll, because Stoops' buddies are voting for him (some jerk-off voted UT #25 in the coach's poll this week!). The 'horns only hope is that it was Mack Brown that put the #25 down to shame other coaches into being honest about the rankings, since the whole thing is anonymous, except the final year-end poll. \m/ Hook'em Horns \m/ Shameless Plug: Well, the 'boys choked for sure, twice in two big games. Will this have a lingering effect. Now it will be over 4700 days between playoff wins! DDCSD wrote in post #6787433 Wow, Hillis was the only Denver RB with a carry. Now that is strange. He might save my season if Barber can't go this weekend. I love me some Deangelo, that is for sure. Denver couldn't keep a RB on the roster. 7 on IR! WOW! DDCSD wrote in post #6806430 I had the same problem at the beginning of the season. I was getting the 2nd or third most points some weeks and still losing. Thankfully that has turned around and I've even gotten a couple of breaks where my opponent happened to have even more miserable weeks than me. I'm a 30 point underdog this week, so I hope your team doesn't quite meet expectations and mine exceeds them by a bit. This certainly makes for an interesting week. I'm just glad that so many are still paying attention to their teams. Usually half or more of the teams are on auto-pilot with injured players still active by now. Its been a fun FF season! On a side note, how many of you think the Vikings' season is officially over with the Williams' getting suspended? Or Williams getting hurt? That judge in Minn has some strings pulled! PhatPhoto wrote in post #6807261 Let me just say the Viking's are going to have a hard problem without them. But since I am a Bears fan ( I know, but I am proud of it) the Bears still would of won the division. The Bears have an easier last 4 games then the Vikings, plus the Bears have 3 of the last 4 games are at home. Plus the Vikings always crumble when the season comes to an end. Go BEARS !! This is the second time I have played with POTN and hope we can keep this going for years to come. Good luck all ! Well, the Bears couldn't do it. Bummer! AngryCorgi wrote in post #6882881 To not make it, Carolina would have to lose out and 2 of the 3 (Cowboys, Atlanta, Tampa) would have to win out. That's not likely to happen. Dallas plays Baltimore and the @Philly. Tampa has to play an angry San Diego next week. Atlanta has to play @Minny next week. I think Carolina could lose out and still make at least a WC birth at this point. I think Tampa is pretty much done. They look terrible. I'm also pretty sure my team will lose one of the last two also. Tampa was horrible the last few weeks. Almost as bad as the Lions! breal101 wrote in post #6962395 Saints-Panthers game was fun yesterday. I wasn't unhappy to see the Panthers win, I hope they go all the way.
