I think it would be a simple matter to add a LED to the receiver unit that will light up when the signal is received...

My Skyport consistently will not trigger one (of 3) of my Lumedyne heads and one (of 3) of another photographers Bron heads more then once. It will trigger the other heads, and a few Broncolor packs without issues.

On these two heads, it'll fire once, and then the receiver shuts down on it's own...
I've just marked the heads in question with a bit of tape until I have time and desire to look into it further ;)

This seems like a problem some people have. I've been reading on yahoo looking for a fix, but it seems that I've seen this on here before some where and there was a fix, but I don't know where.

My village called. I was told that they missed me.

Rene --

Is it specific to the combination of one of the flash heads with one specific receiver unit, or will this occur when any of the receivers are attached to this one specific flash head?

Can you try attaching the receiver to 2 flash heads at the same time using a Y cable, the one you marked with tape and another one of the 3 to see if the same event occurs?

Is it truly the receiver that shuts down (turns off), or is it possibly a trigger lockup similar to the Canon EX units? By cycling the power on the flash head do things reset?

Have you measured the trigger voltage of the 3 different flash heads with a digital multimeter? I wouldn't be surprised if the one with the tape is slightly lower than the other two units.

One thing about the Skyports that irks me is the lack of an indicator light on the receiver to verify a signal from the transmitter. This makes it harder to diagnose problems.

and no hotshoe lock for the transmitter.

i was doing some bmx photos at the park, and a friend was filming him with a fisheye, took a few pictures and my flash didnt go off i felt stupid, looked and my transmitter was halfway out of the hotshoe.. problem solved.

can be annoying.

other than that ive had no problems with it its worked every single time
even through walls and floors! i tested that out

I only have one receiver ;)

That's a thought... I'll give that a try somewhere next week.

Light on the receiver goes off IIRC.

I'll give that a try as well... Didn't have a MM for a while, as I blew up my Fluke 75 (don't ask :p)

I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this problem with the skyports?

Mine are running great, hopefully you will get a functional set and get back in business in short order.
