Ive just started trying my hand at macro, and a guy i know tells me i need a Ring flash im just asking for a second opinion also any other adivice thats on offer for macro thank you...Ray

By that I mean shots that the subject fits between the flash radii. Many other photographers also use mini mag lites to help with lighting. They add a fiber optic cable to the flashlight to really pinpoint the beam. JIM
