How would I do this?

How would one go about achieving this effect. My boss wants me to put something like this together for work but my photoshop skills are a work in progress. I know how to do everything except the picture of the person with the corners on the picture. I'm sure you can see what i'm talking about. thanks for any help!

I would think just extend you canvas down, fill with white , drag the pic in and maybe freetransform it size.

Not really sure tho.

This will get you your corners. The rest is layers. Resize the photo with the corners, move to main canvas and free transform until happy.

If your looking to just make the dark corners , use the pen tool and outline those corners making a selection, add select the other corners and then make a curves layer and pull it down to darken to taste. You will maintain the detail in the corner. There is a ruler tool to make it precise.
