Took a day trip to Victoria on Sunday. It would seem I picked a less than ideal time to go to Buchart Gardens as the blooms were in transition. A lot had already withered, and a lot were still buds. I did manage to snap a couple though so here is a sampling. Oh, if you know what kind of flowers they are some identification would be appreciated :)

I think the last two were overexposed.

I think #3 is the best in my opinion. Good color and nice composition there. I think the DOF was too shallow on the first shot and the last one looks a little flat and dull (color-wise). The lighting to me looks a little harsh all the way around....kind of looks like mid-afternoon sun.

As far as the types of flowers...absolutely no clue. Usually when I do shoots of this nature if the "whatever it is" is going to be important, I bring my wife with me to take notes :D. Half the time when I'm shooting critters I don't usually know what species I'm shooting until I ask my wife later! LOL!!! "Hey honey...what was that mystery monkey anyways?"

Peace,
Jim

Thank you for the responses. It was indeed mid-day sun Jim, but I was only on the island for the day so I had to do my best. I did use a CP on all of the shots to combat the sun as best I could.

Flowers aren't really my thing, but when in Rome...
