I am going to be insuring my equipment with Farmer's this week and they are asking me to provide them with a list of all of my equipment.

Should I add accessories to this list, like filters, batteries, CF cards, etc.?

Thanks for your input.

INSURE EVERYTHING!!! It may make the cost go up a bit, but when something breaks, it will be worth it. Of course, if just one of the small things break, it might not be worth filing a claim on, because your deductible may be higher than what you're replacing. But it's always better to be safe than sorry.

I include the cost of replacing ALL of my equipment - after all thats what you would expect back if anything happened to it.

Further - I dont know about the US but over here in the UK, if an insurance company dscovers that you have actually "under" insured yourself - even though you would therefore be claiming less than the full value, they can reduce the amount they pay out by the same percentage.

Makes sense. I wonder what is going to be the deductible for this sort of insurance.

Thanks for your input.

Yeah, my insurance agent stops by my studio every few months just to "see how business is going." In other words he's making sure I haven't bought new lights or other equipment that I haven't told him about. I've always been honest with him, so I don't know what the penalties would be if I had hid things from him. But, knock on wood, I haven't had to file a claim yet either!

My deductible is $250 I think. I go through Grinnell Mutual.

Insure everything, usually you rate things at replacement value. You may be able to group things like "memory cards", "diffusers", etc.

Yeah, that is what I am starting to do right now and I surely do have a lot of stuff laying around here. A lot of accessories here and there.

So then you don't think I have to be specific enough like # of memory cards/brand/size and cost of each?

You may be able to get away with saying Xgb of memory on X amount of X-type cards. If you have several different brands, I would just name the best brand of the bunch.
