Leopard B&W conversion

This is a conversion that I started working on from a color photo that was taken this weekend. I wasn't overly thrilled with the color version, largely because of the mesh screen the leopard was behind, and I wanted to see how a B&W rendition might be.

This is the beginning of the conversion. What do you think? What tips do you offer to improve upon it? Any suggestions would be most helpful and appreciated.

I dont have the color as a reference, but I do indeed think the b&w came out very well! A very nice capture, the crop seems perfect too.

My humble beginnings: Canon XTI, 17-85 IS, 50mm 1.8
