How do I successfully connect the Sunpak 383 to the Skyport receiver? I have tried all the adapters available, including my alienbees 3.5mm to male flash adapter with no luck.
I have a hot shoe adapter with three PC sync ports on it - two female, one male. The Skyport came with a 3.5mm male/male cable and a 2.5mm/male PC sync cable.
I first bought two adapters from radio shack, one that converts 2.5mm to 3.5mm, and the other female to female 3.5mm. I used the 2.5mm to 3.5mm to convert the 2.5mm/male PC sync cable to 3.5mm and then joined the 3.5mm/male PC sync cable to the 3.5mm/3.5mm cable in the Skyport receiver, through the female to female 3.5mm adapter. I then plugged the PC sync side of the 2.5mm/male PC sync cable into my hot shoe adapter, on which rested the flash. No go!
I tried the alienbees 3.5mm/male PC sync adapter and coupled it to the 3.5mm/3.5mm receiver cable, then plugged the PC sync side into my hot shoe adapter. No luck!
I tried several other combinations, but without success.
Short of splicing a 2.5mm head to a cable with a 3.5mm head, or buying flashzebra's, is there any way I can successfully connect my Sunpak 383 to my Skyport receiver????
Shouldn't one of those methods mentioned work? If not, why? Could it be possible the triggering voltage on the Sunpak 383 is not compatible with the Skyport receiver??
Thank you!
