Morning All,
About time I stuck my head above the parapet again,so after a nice weeks holiday in Wales,I needed some crazy motorsport action ,up close and personal,so I went to my first Autograss meet,at a local track, and very entertaining it was too.
There was some brilliant engineering with the cars, like Fiat Cincequentos with TWO engines,or rear engined ,rwd Minis on space frames.
AND,they go like rockets !!
So here is a cross section of the day,as always.
Get along to one,it is a great craic.

The paddock,and a wild little FIAT !

And there "orf",a mad inline start to the first corner.

IMAGE: http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r223/chrispons/GR4M3239.jpg

Then usual frenetic sideways action, giving little quarter.

A couple of action shots,

Of course we all need a little nap ....

And I dont know why I took these speedy ladies.

Finally, the championship leader I think in his twin engined Tesco runner.

Any comments welcomed, goodness knows I do it to other folk.(smiley face)

At last! Someone has experienced what I've been banging on about for years!! Autograss is the best motorsport action you've never heard of LOL.

The cones are a pain if you're shooting from the inside of the track as you were (I take it your were signed on?).

The blonde lady in #7 is Claire Horner, and she is a member of my local club (Yorkshire Dales). She is one of the country's top Autograss racer and has been national champions more than once from memory. The Dickster in #8 in Radford 421 is one of the top men's Class 7 racers as well. Looks like you were in fairly good company!

Simon.

Cheers for the info Simon, and you are right it's brilliant.
Yep ,was signed on.
To be honest I learned loads and found everyone really freindly and co operative, and very helpful.
The marshalls worked very hard, and drivers were expected to help to.

Will definately be going again.

No probs Chris.

The sport is very friendly and extremely family orientated.

If you spot any cars with the prefix YD on them, then they are from my local club - be sure to say hello to them from me!!

Cheers Big Ant,
It is very relaxed ...............till they head off the start to the first corner :)

Also, because they have the next race on the grid behind at the start,if there is an incident, the first race cars come off and do a re run soon after.so you get absolutely non stop action.

The fastest cars are seriously quick ,and the drivers must be very committed and good to keep them on the track.

Willie,
Give it a go.:),the car is a Fiat Cincequento ,with two motorbike engines.
