Are Kenko UV filters just re-badged Hoya's? I just got a couple Kenko Pro-1's and I think they are exactly the same as my Hoya Pro-1's. $58 US total including shipping for two 72mm slims from HVStar. The same but "hoya" branded filters are $72 each from B&H
Thanks:)

Tokina Ltd. merged with Hoya and Kenko and is now called THK (Tokina Hoya Kenko), and they also own Slik. Tokina merged with Kenko back in 1993, and since has bought up Hoya and Slik, etc.

I spoke with a THK tech a couple of weeks ago. In my discussion, he explained to me that Hoya and Kenko own 50/50 of the same company. Hoya and Kenko filters are exactly the same. In the US, the Hoya labeling is primarily used. Elsewhere, you will see Kenko and Hoya. If you read the product descriptions for either brand's filters, they are the same. Tokina is a brand of Hoya/Kenko.
Personally, I've found the Pro 1 Digital filters to be of excellent optical quality. I cannot detect any IQ deterioration with their filters.

Here's the quotes that explain it best I think

What do they mean by Wide Band? I'm looking at the Kenko filters on hvstar and it shows the Pro1 UV filters and Pro1 WIDE BAND Circular Pol filter..

I think they are for wide lenses so the rim is smaller.....But it may be the opposite, I'd have to see the link. If it says they're for wide lenses then this is the case. Lens caps still fit fine on these BTW

I do not see any mention of a wide lens requirement

It's for wide angle...scroll down you'll see this:

"Low Profile Frame
Ultra thin filter frames to help avoid vignetting on super wide angle lenses are also designed to hold a lens"

That said they're great on any lens but work on Ultrawides too:)

Just to add to all the who-owns-who confusion... Hoya owns Pentax, right?
