Well my country has been left with some arsenal from the "old ages" and here is one of the remaining operational units . As we are an exYugoslavian country our armaments are mostly of russian prduction as is this helicopter...

This is just one from the series, im not currently at home so this is straight out of the camera just cropped and resized...

Pretty sure this is an Mi-17. It was the export version of the Mi-8 and had upgraded engines (including the 'buckets' you can see on the front which the Mi-8 doesn't have) and the tail rotor is on the port side as opposed to the Mi-8, which has it on the starboard side. I'm such a geek, please forgive me... lol. Nice shot.

Looking at the butt end, it has a Mi-17 style ramp and door...

Hinds are the gunship version (Mi-24)...this is a version of what NATO calls the Hip

:) Had a few flights in some...very strong helicopters!

Nice shot

Now, although Hinds are indeed a Russian helo, and designated MI-24, they're not a version of the MI-8/17. Just to put my $0.02 in again lol ;)

The Mi-24 was designed from the Hip...

Haha, well there's no shame in thinking a 17 is an 8, they are almost identical! Spectre, my bad... I stand corrected :)

I am not expert but the same helo is featured in the July issue of Aircraft Illustrated magazine from which i have copied the following;

ILA 2008 (Berlin Airshow) saw the first appearance at an event outside its home country of a new-build Croation AF Mil Mi-171sh (serial 226), visting in support of the Krila Oluje aerobatic team. This was one of the more recent deliveres of the 10 examples of the multi-role attack/utility helicopter being supplied to Croatia in part payment of a Russian debt.............
