Everybody knows the kit lens is built with plastic made from peanut oil....

Gee I thought they were made out of hardened Honey. You know, because some people would be allergic to the kit lens.

Persona;lly I love my 100-400L so much I sold a pair of 70-200 f2.8L and 300 f4 IS L lenses because I didn't need them. (although wish I didnt sell the 70-200, for different reasons)

I do love my 100-400. There is NO WAY I would sell it now. (unless someone wants to trade it for a 70-200 2.8IS + 400 5.6 + 500 + 600 + Sigzilla ;-)a)

Well, at first I loved this lens. i found it really sharp and useful. After some time using it, I now realise that it is absolutely useless...

I know what you mean...

I'm used to shooting airplanes with my 100-400mm, but now it seems all I need is a medium wide-angle... (in this case, the 28-135mm IS set at 30mm). Maybe I'll sell mine and get a nice 28mm prime...

Why would I need a 100-400 when I have my old 18-55 kit lens. It has already more than enough reach to do wildlife! Here is a proof with an uncropped shot taken with this poorly rated kit lens :D

You used an 18-55 for wildlife? Man, talk about a lot of magnification. I shot this shot these with as 12mm lens.

I cheated for this one and shot with the 135L ...

This squirrel is fun. She (yes, female) will come up to our sliding door to beg for peanuts & sun flower seeds. It has taken us a few years to get some squirrels trained to do this. Country squirrels are truly wild, unlike their city cousins.

The only drawback is now my wife says "no more squirrel hunting for you". She used to eat Brunswick stew, but no more :-)

Your not going to keep the 18-55 MM just because you shot a picture of a squirrel? With the 100-400 you could have stood much further away and got the same shot. Plus dont forget the cropping. To each his own I guess.
