Gitzo introduce new apparel line

Gitzo tripods are renowned worldwide for their quality and reliability and the same description undoubtedly applies to its new line of Gitzo Photogear Apparel- ‘Professional Photo Essentials’.
Bogen Imaging UK launched the two new photographer jackets at last week's Focus on Imaging 2008 show and they proved to be a big hit with the discerning crowds that gathered around to get a glimpse of the impressive new Gitzo '4 Season' and 'Fleece' Jackets.
Photographers demanding durability, funcionality and comfort need look no further than the new Gitzo 4 Season Jacket. This jacket is not only fashionable, it reaches new levels of functionality while protecting the wearer from extreme weather conditions.
Designed to be worn alone as super-deluxe photographer’s windbreaker, or as the outer jacket of a 2-part system, this jacket has a plethora of pockets inside and out designed to hold a wide range of gear- not just cameras and lenses, but an mp3 player, pens, business & credit cards and numerous accessories.
Made of Cordura, the jacket is built to resist abrasions and scratches when trekking, hiking or even mountain climbing. The material is treated with Witcofex Ecodry and DuPont Teflon to increase water resistance, but at the same time encourage 'breathability'. Wrist straps provide an extra seal against moisture, while protective padding on the shoulders and elbows make it comfortable to carry gear or lean against something for added support. The hood is designed as a light-shield making it easy to view an LDC display in the bright sun and even the zippers have been designed to allow the photographer complete freedom of movement in the field.
Next up is the photographer’s Gitzo Fleece Jacket, which features the same design details and multiple pockets as the 4 Season Jacket, but provides additional warmth and fits comfortably under the 4 Season Jacket.

Well, why not? I hear Harley Davidson makes more off their clothing lines than the motorcycles themselves. Heck Gitzo is THE 'pod so...
I was surprised, just a bit, that the jacket wasn't made out of carbon fiber thread, though :p:lol:

For all you die hard Gitzo fans who like to spend $600 on a tripod, you now have a matching jacket available for you guessed it, $600. What a deal.

I like how the prices are so high, that these things cost about the same price as one of there tripods. Looks nice, but I wear Arc'teryx gear that's made much better and the material quality is outstanding.

WOW!! I thought you all were kidding and joking about the price. WTF!! Do they think it's Armani?? I guess people who have been hand fed everything they have and don't have anything better to spend their money on wouldn't care how much they are being charged for it. I'm going to go and puke now...

I was just thinking, I don't own any Arc'teryx but I would choose that over this if I wanted excellent quality and they'd cost less!

I do think Gitzo makes a nice tripod and they're not unreasonably priced for the quality & performance (so I bought one :D ) but these jackets are ridiculous.

As if they weren't making enough money with the cutbacks in the outstanding dust bags that come with the tripods...although I HAVE to agree about the quality of the tripods. I just bought a used G1325 w/1318 rapid column [Still paid $400 and how old is it :)] and I'm in awe as I can hang from under the plate!! Granted I'm only 140lbs but that's way more than I'll ever have to put on it. Second to none. I can't stop laughing....how can that price be justified?? Zippers made of gold? Or is it that the name is golden?? Sorry Gitz, but you're pushing it with these prices. I thought better of them before hearing this(the company exect.'s).

"Honey, would you like a lens or two, or do you want a fleece sweater for X-mas this year?"

Well, with $4 a gallon for gas, why not.. I feel horrible for my children. Unless minimum wage goes up by at least %100 they're going to have a hard time in life. But I DO NOT want to get started down that road!!

If I were to win one in a contest I don't think I would even wear it. I'd probably sell it and get something with the value of $600. Is there anything at all that is special about these products, or is it really just the name being bought.

There are some awesome clothing manufacturers

But, GITZO is NOT one of them. I would guess that the person that asembled this jacket spoke Cantonese (or was it Mandarin?).
