I shot a wedding on the 13th this way.... here are three examples of using that setup in a large ballroom. The first image is a setup pose, but the other two are completely candid where I had no control of the subject location/distance. I just put one light up on a stand shooting into an umbrella at about a height of eight feet up and pointed toward the receiving line. I put the stand up against a wall, in a corner, out of the way and point in the general direction I want it to go to give me off-axis lighting from where I will be standing taking the shots. My other flash is on camera and used for fill. These image are mainly to show the results of the setup and how the light can look.

2 580 Ex II's
1 sunpak 383

Then i have 2 skyport recievers and a transmitter for 1 580 and the sunpak.

So i can either use the skyport system with a sunpak and canon off camera in manual.

Or one 580 on camera and one off as a slave.

Thanks for all the response's guyss, really helpfull

What camera are you using?

If you have a camera with a PC port, you could use one 580 on camera and the other plus the 383 off camera with the Skyports. The Skyport transmitter will fire from the PC connector on your camera with the 2.5mm x PC cable that comes with the skyport universal set.
