I picked one of my favorite shots from last weekend in Victoria. Although the colours are quite vibrant, I thought the range of tone in this image worked well in B&W.

I am trying to improve my b&w photography in order to improve my ability to see different tones in a scene rather than just different colours. Most of the images I make seem to be too busy for b&w so that's something I'll have to look at in the future. Thank you for the responses ![]() Interesting point about B & W vs color. It seems to me that with monochrome you are forced into keeping the composition simpler because of not having color as the #1 discriminant (the yellow airplane in the deep blue sky, or the red hat in a sea of black hats, etc.).
