What I don't dig (and can't understand) is why so many bmx pics (mags included) have the second shooter/assistant in the shots too. Why is that? Anyway, nice capture and great boost on the tobaggan. To be honest, I don't know and it's not something I've really noticed before. It's not something I really do either, except that this time I had forgotten to bring a tripod so had to get one of the kids to hold my flash for me ~Andrew~

It's a classic! -Turk- Blog

Jun 22, 2008 15:23 | #8 It's not bad, I wouldn't crop him out as khall said. That would make it way to tight, just plan better next time, I would have the kid with the flash on the other side of the rail. Then he would be out of the shot, and the riders ass wouldn't be lit up. Get lower too. Keep practicing! Canon 1D III & Canon 5D

I could have cropped him out and composed it differently - the original is framed a bit wider and it would have been doable, but I chose this composition because I like it, and I like that it's a bit different, so in this case it's not something I'd change. What I would change in future is I'd have two or three lights not one, and I'd actually take my lightstand(s) rather than leaving them in the car ~Andrew~

The background is the same on both sides, it wouldn't of made any difference if the flash was on the other side, except it would of lit his face more. and you don't trully need a second light for this shot anyways, it's just your placement on the flash. Check out some of my skate photos on here, they are all shot with one light. Keep practicing! Canon 1D III & Canon 5D
