The local camera shop here will give me 500 for my bigma to put towards the 150-500 os that they 1000 for seems like a good deal, i would luv the image stabilization. Since i cant afford canon L Glass right now (hopefully someday!). My question is should I jump and go for it? or wait?

Why not try to sell your Bigma here? You'd surely get more than $500 for it...

If I was in your position, I'd jump on the 150-500. I can't imagine being at 500mm without IS/OS.

The 150-500OS is heavier than the bigma iirc.
Anyway, if you desire OS/IS, then it may be worth it.
Optically they seem in the same ball park to me with bigma having a slight advantage when stopped down. But not a big difference.

I posted a link to a tester who compared both directly, so you may want to look for that post as a point of reference though.

Good luck.

Look forward to your thought's on it -the only thing i found lacking is a limit switch.

Thanks for all the comments. Heres a picture that I took with it yesterday at the store no PP just resized to upload to here. And it was shot thru a window looking out. I stopped down the lens to get a slower shutterspeed tryout the OS, and it seemed to do pretty good. To me it just seemed lighter than my bigma, while I was holding it, and shooting with it.

Well I bought it today and the copy I got is having bad focusing problems. It will focus fine at 150mm, but when you zoom out it wont lock the focus. It would just keep jumping back and forth and wont focus. I could manually focus it then turn the AF back on it would still lose it. I called the store from which i bought it and Im going to exchange it for a different one, hopefully without the issues. But from the pics that do have it seems pretty sharp and all that just need to get one without the focusing problem.

Too bad you got a problem first one. Let me know how you come out with it. I am very curious how it will focus with the XTi.

On my bigma, the min. focusing distance gets longer as you zoom out.
If this is the same for the 150-500 and you are at the min. focusing distance at 150mm and you zoom the lens out without moving back, then you may be closer than the min. focusing distance for the 500mm focal length. At which point. it'll do what you are describing.

No i was shooting stuff that were like 25 feet away or more like a car that was across the street. It would focus at 150mm on the car, but not if i zoomed in on it.
