Is it too centered? I am trying to get better at portraits, any advise is great.

I dont find it to centered as the sides of the bridge frame him nicely. However for me the brightness above him does pull my eye.

i agree, tighter crop at top.
I can relate to trying to make these kinds of photos better. a tripod really helps. and learning to use single point autofocus, if your camera supports it. both of these will help you get sharper image/focus.

I like it but his face seems oof (relative to his feet), the brightness can be taken care of through a tighter crop as choomps said previously.

Something I really like is the setting...it just "matches" him to me. I would crop it a bit, as was stated. Cool pic!

i agree. tighter crop, try to make sure focus is on face. other than that, great job.

I think its nice, dont know your son but from this pic he looks like a laid back kinda guy:) So thats good to capture personality. I also think it would benefit if a little moer on the top was cropped out. Maybe try some edge darkening?
