I like the way the leaves frame the flowers. I would crop a little more all around.

It's a beautiful image, but some serious cropping is in order. First, to reduce the amount of blank space in the upper fourth and second to move the subject to the left a bit and get it off dead center for a more interesting composition.

Thanks Bob. My biggest weekness these days is my phobia of cropping!

The more pixels you have to start with, the more you can afford to throw away. That's why you need to upgrade to the XSi, right?

Thanks! I am planning to get an XSi soon and I'm eager to learn how to get the most out of it.

A few of us do not mind flower shots with centered subjects (I'm one of'em). Others seem to feel that the only perspective for flower shots is from the top and straight down through their centers. They'll be very happy with the perspective in your shot:D. As for me, I have no bias along those regards in regards to flower subjects. the lighting, bokeh, vignette/or lack of, focus, and color sat are the major concerns for me. Your image rocks. I'd probably crop your image to have it conform closer to the rule of thirds to satisfy others; but as for me, I like it just the way it is.

Bob is a perfectionist and very very talented. A review from him will always be a lesson. You've come to the right place to improve your skills. Welcome to our forum.

Cheers,
jam
