I just received my Alien Bees. I was inside setting them up when I noticed the sunset. I shouted at my models who hated to get out of the pool, but they smiled for me anyway...

This is shot with my mounted flash, triggering the AB as a slave. I see a few problems, but I'd love to hear advice from you guys. C&C please.

That's a really nice shot. Maybe next time take one with the whole reflection, but still that's really good.

I would straighten it to level the deck but otherwise it looks nice.

Be careful with those lights around water. Hopefully you've got GFCI outlets around the pool.

The only complaint I would have about that picture is the composition (it could be better) but the lighting itself (which is what this forum is about) is great! It's very natural looking. Great job!

Of course, I'll give some credit to the two lovely models, too. WIthout them, you'd just have a boring sunset scene. ;)

Thanks guys,

I noticed the horizon was off a bit, and I don't like the composition much either. I'll be more careful next time. I also notice sensor dust. I hate that. Still looking for a good cleaning product.

About the lighting though, these strobes open a whole new world! I've been lurking on this forum for months, learning every day. I can't thank you guys enough for putting in the time to explain, enlighten, and argue! :)

Much more to come,

John.
