My local camera store has the Skyport sets in two different boxes one is in a white box with black ends on it. and the other is a kind of fancy dark blue box that is like a picture(I think). I know sometimes they have old stock that may be over 2yrs old and I am wondering if/which is the new style box? The sales man told me it is the same product and did not matter. I just hate to buy something(new) that might be 2-3yrs old. I am just crazy that way.

Yeah I know, I ordered my 600/1200 set. I always go in to handle all the goodies in the local store so I try and by stuff there. But the lighting set was 380.00 more plus tax(500.00+ overall). I am not that loyal. But 20.00-30.00 more I can manage.

I bought mine a few month ago and the box is white with dark sides. If you open the boxes and have a look the transmitter and receiver have different version numbers mine are 1.1 for the transmitter and ver 1.3 for the receiver. I would get the high version number.

The Skyports were only introduced about a year ago, so there is no way the stock is 2 or 3 years old.

Enjoy! Lon

OK, thanks for the info!
FlashZebra: I was just saying the age thing was possible. The store has stuff that is not even made anymore. But nice to know they have not been around that long!!

Around November last year I ordered a set from B&H and got the blue box. Got another set from them in March and its the black and white box. The only difference between the two is that the black and white come with a case for the transmitter and receiver.

I say support the local shop whenever possible!

OK FYI: I checked version numbers as suggested Syndney2k the sets out of both boxes where the same. TX 1.1 and RX 1.3.

But as tenoverthenose stated the Blk&Wht set comes in a nice case and the other blue box does not. Both set were the same price. I guess maybe it was/is some sort of a promotional set??

So I bought(local store) the white box set and also picked up the Sekonic 358 meter. I should be good to go now!!?

If I am not wrong the blue boxes were the earlier shipping boxes for the skyports. Sometime early this year they changed it to the white box with dark sides. I would go with the white box as it is newer and has the case to keep your skyports in.
