I decided to hit the links on my day off on Friday. I played one of DC's public courses near RFK stadium, Langston GC. The weather was great and the golf wasn't too bad either. It was my first time on the course this year and fired a nine-over 81. Not Tiger's caliber, but I did honor my username, by making two birdies. (BRDEMKR = birdie maker....not "bride maker" or "bread maker" ).
I brought along my Canon 710IS point and shoot, and had a bit of fun with the macro function....
First, the beginning of the scorecard with the birdies:
Now let the fun begin. I'm heading to the 16th, a 540yd Par 5, at 6 over par. I tee up the ball from the blues.
I crush my 1987 vintage titanium shafted Taylor Made 9.5 degree driver down the middle. With 270 yards remaining, I pull out my Taylor Made "Raylor" utility wood. I proceed to duff it 100yds down the fairway. Oops! Still looking for birdie, I smash a high 5-iron into the wind heading right for the flag. Not enough club for the wind, and here's where it landed. Laying 3:
Knowing my sand wedge will bounce into the ball, I closed the face of of the club to help it dig in and swung away. After the sand cleared, I'm laying 4:
Another angle:
I three putt for a double bogey.
