Considering how rounded those bodies are, I wonder if they are really that bad. In regards to gas mileage, flex fuel will work. Along with lighter weight materials. It does not have to be a all steel construction. But I can tell you that my Malibu gets 34mpg at a total average speed of 69mph on a 130 mile trip, half of it on 2-lane roads. My '69 Cuda, that looked pretty slippery, was lucky to get 18 on the same trip. Which doesn't really matter. If it hadn't rusted out from under me, I'd still be driving it?
