If you're using a crop camera and want to shoot mostly landscapes then the Canon 10-22 is good and I've heard good things about the Sigma 10-20 as well.

It's an excellent lens, at a very reasonable price and the focal length shouldn't cramp you outside. When possible, add the Tokina 12-24mm f/4 to it, and you're set for wide to short telephoto. Down the road, add Sigma's 70-200mm f/2.8 and their APO 2X teleconverter, and you can range from 12 to 400mm with minimal lens swapping (and dust problems). Outdoor: Tokina 12-24mm f/4; Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8; Sigma 70-200mm f/2.8; 2X APO T/C; Sigma 105mm Macro; Indoor: Sigma 18-50mm f/2.8; Sigma 50-150mm f/2.8; Canon 50mm f/1.8; Body: Canon 50D & 350D

It's not the photographer's fault. Bigfoot is blurry. And that's extra scary to me, because there's a large, out-of-focus monster roaming the countryside." --Mitch Hedberg

The range from 17 to 35mm is perfect for landscapes and the lens is super sharp. www.luisargerich.com
