This is a bridal shoot, not a wedding shoot. Both the shots was taken with a Elinchrom Deep Throat softbox, the first is both diffusers fitted the second is bare. The first shot also had a 400BX behind the model with a standard deflector attached.

#2 is nice. #1 ....i think needs a separation from the veil and the backdrop

What a beautiful gown. I can't believe I just said that.

I like the 2nd as well. I agree the first one is too blended in with the background.

I'm in the minority here. I find the first picture mesmerizing and surreal, and the lack of contrast is appealing. It works very well for me with the subject's skin tone. Her dark hair does a good job of forcing your attention on her eyes and framing the focus of the composition.

I think the first one is pretty impressive. The fact that you were able to hold onto the lines of the veil outline despite blowing out the white background shows me that you know a thing or two about shooting high key.
