Hi, I was shooting in Manual focus with my tamron 17-50, I sometimes see Center AF point blinking in Red when i focus the subject. I thought in Manual focus, they shouldn't be activated. Could someone clarify me on this?

Sounds like you may have the camera in manual mode, but the lens still in AF mode; have you pushed the AF/MF switch on the lens to AF?

From the bottom of page 58 in the XTi Users Manual:

"If you press the shutter button halfway during manual focusing, the AF point achieving focus flashes briefly and the focus confirmation light in the viewfinder will light."

;)

Gear: Kodak Brownie and homemade pin-hole cameras. Burlap sack for a bag.

Never spotted that in the manual before, that's really helpful. I'm at work as I type this, can't wait to get home and try it out!!

Just make sure that the camera is in OneShot mode (and not AIServo mode) or you'll be scratching your head wondering why it's not working for you. :)
