Like many parts of the country, the NE of England was lashed by high winds and rain this weekend. It made for an extremely unpleasant time for photography, particularly with winds gusting up to 70mph. Add in some new rules about where photographer can go at Autograss tracks, and it made things difficult to say the least. Anyway, enough of that, on to some pictures.

#1 A couple of very tidy Class 1 Junior Minis

#2 The weather meant I had to try some different shots than normal as it was hard enough standing up never mind swinging a telephoto lens around. Here's a heat of Class 2's leaving the line

#3 Class 7 Minis power sliding through the pit corner

#4 Splashing through the mud early on from the previous nights rain.

#5 More Class 7 action

#6 Launching off the line Class 6 style

#7 Slithering out of the bottom bend

#8 Proper drifting!!

The race action was excellent (it always is!), but the conditions were such that I didn't really enjoy my day out and was glad to get back home.

Anyway, as usual any comments or feedback on the pictures would be most appreciated.

Cheers,

Simon

I hate to hear about the bad weather but it looks like you made out pretty well on getting some good shots. I like #4, all the mud and stuff frozen up in the air makes it look like he is in the middle of a tornado. Those are some pretty nasty looking skys in your pics.

Great shots Simon,in tricky ,difficult conditions by look.though the angry skies and sunshine does add dramatism.
I rate your start shot with the contrast of the yellow car and sky in 6,and the wheelspin.
The red mini in 4 is very sharp with great action through the mud.
7 ,is very good too.

Simon, these shots are again fantastic. I love the use of the wide angle at the starting line. I always admire your work, great stuff

Thanks Jim. The skies were pretty threatening all day, but it was the wind that created the biggest problems.

Simon, I really do like your photos. I like the wheel spin in #6, front of the car trying it's hardest to get going and the back just sitting there.

Maybe have to search out some Autograss racing in future.

Looks like a few of the Moni's were using rear mounted bike engines?

Photo 7: They look like fun :)

Plenty of action in these Simon and the startline shots are different :)

I think the sky in #6 says it all. I didn't even think about picking the camera up this weekend once i saw the forecast.

The Minis in these shots (apart from the Class 1 Junior cars) are all running multiple bike engines, typically hyabusa or blackbird derivatives. They are essentially fully space framed race cars with a Mini lookalike shell over the top of them. Great fun to watch!

Cracking shots as usual Simon, #4 is a minter but also really #7, like the dark sky in #6 too.

Love that start line shot in #6 Simon. A totally different take and the wheelspin really makes it. If pushed though I'd have to pick #8 - the attitude of the mini drifting is really eye catching.

Sorry the weather wasn't up to much but you've got a super set of photos there.

Cracking set of shots Simon, the mud plugging Clubman and the two with wheelspin really stand out though.

Cheers
Ian
