wireless remote - perhaps an "oh, duh" question

I just got my Phottix wireless remote for the 40D. Works slick so far.

Except that I can't make it focus...the directions say to half press, and I try, but I end up taking the shot.

Is there a trick?

Nuts...figured it out, I don't use the shutter for focus normally and had to reset that function...sorry, go ahead and delete this post if you want!

Keep the post. It is informative. I'm considering one of these things and I only use the AF-On button for focus. This post would have saved me throwing the thing against the wall.
