I wanted to make this a video post like ones I've done before
Instead, imagine MattDJ holding up the camera and voicing these words while I rely on the tried and true craft of word-smithing to introduce to you, Shannon Lee of Dainty Lamb PhotographyThis weekend, I was honored to shoot a beautiful wedding (blog post coming soon!) full of happy and outgoing people...one of whom was Shannon. As I was in the process of making some awesome shots of the bride getting ready and coaching her on how to ignore me (but still acknowledge me every now and then with a glance), I overheard someone behind me re-affirming my instructions. "Sweet!" I thought to myself..."this person understands what I'm going for". Turns out, this person was Shannon, an awesome photographer based out of Maryland. After looking through the slide show we were displaying at the reception, Shannon approached me and offered up lots of compliments. You made my day Shannon!
We then talked "shop" for a while as we discussed the challenges of certain shooting situations, and the "busyness" side of the business. Shannon has an excellent personality and is highly gifted in her craft. I love meeting new photographers and am thankful that Shannon introduced herself. I knew this was a blog post in the making so I snagged her for a quick head shot.Photographers, don't be afraid of being labeled an "Uncle Bob" (We all have at least one story to tell don't we?!) and find a few minutes to chat with the photographer. Assuming you honestly have something good to say, go ahead and say it!! After a long day, a compliment is even better than a protein bar!
While there are still some "old school" photographers out there that see other photographers as nothing but competition, let's continue to change that landscape.
