Any photographers use natural light only?

Going through thousands of images from wedding photographers around the world, I would say the ones that blows me away are the post processed shots from the use of natural light.

Don't know, it just has a more warm feel to it.

Any photographer use primarily natural light and a large aperture prime?

Wow, good stuff. Like I mentioned before, you obviously know this... I think natural light adds so much more to the photo vs a strobe or a bracket on camera flash. The only thing I can think of is some off camera action.

I prefer natural light whenever possible, as most do. But I really don't know how I'd ever get through without my STE2 and 580s on tripods. Earthy-toned churches, winter time...just hard to find enough light sometimes, even with fast primes wide open. Bartek if you have any tips....

I will use natural light whenever possible. But a lot of times, it just isn't possible.

Like the outdoor wedding I shot last weekend in full sunlight. Have to use fill flash in that instance.

It's just not possible to ONLY use natural light for all weddings - sooner or later you will run into situations where adding flash will give you better results than natural light.

I prefer off camera strobe. You get much better color IMO. But thats not alway do-able. So ya I use natural also.

My wife and I try our best to use only natural light - but we aren't always able to... and it's a ton of fun to mess with the flash during the dances...

Check out Jeff Ascough for a world-class photographer that specializes in natural light and Canon Mark III's. (He was even sent a D3 from Nikon and chose to stick with his Mark III's). Good stuff on his website.

Go figure, I have a Ds3 and no flash. I work outdoors.

I try when I can. Sometimes though, shooting at high noon, it just isn't possible. The sun's light is too harsh, and might not be good for those kind of shots.

I saw a photographer friend of mine use a HUGE umbrella, probably like a good 10 feet wide or something, just a huge white umbrella. That thing was effectively a large scrim/softbox for the sun, and worked really well. She said it was the best 50 bucks she's ever spent.

I just looked at your blog pictures and they are incredible.
Looks like you are using the 85 1.8 and 50 1.4.

All my headshot sessions are done in natural lighting...

I enjoy it and so do the clients...some specifically look for "Natural Light" Photographers....

Who remembers that one?

I use it when ever possible. And when I have to use strobes or work in the studio I try to match the look of natural light as close as possible.

NO.

All I can say is... WHY LIMIT YOURSELF?????

I shoot available light a lot. I shoot flash a lot. I shoot mixed light a lot. I never understood why people are like, "oh... shooting natural light is the best... everything else sucks... blah blah blah...."

That's like someone saying, "I only shoot between 24-50mm"
All I can say is... WHY LIMIT YOURSELF?

There are DEFINITELY situations that are better suited for one technique or another, one lens or another, etc...

I just think variety rules all. I just don't feel like delivering 400 shots with completely obliterated fuzzy backgrounds because I shot at F/1.2 all day.
