Folks, as I understand it, lenses can be purchased anywhere (not as grey imports to the country in which it is purchased) and the Canon warranty holds good, however a body is only covered in the country/region in which it is purchased. Is the the case? In other words lenses are worldwide warranty but bodies are not?

many thanks for your input.

Jamie

Thats the way I understand it as well and the warranty cards seem to back that up. The body cards clearly say US/Canada and are a different color than the lens cards.

Not sure why, but call me JJ.
I used to hate math but then I realised decimals have a point.

I've sent mine EOS 40D body to Canon only with a receipt printed from an email from DigiCombos.com internet store (I believe my 40D body is a grey market Japanese version) and got free warranty service without questions asked. I never even had a warranty card supplied with my camera... go figure.

Many thanks for that, interesting to say the least.
