Scott Kelby's 7 point book has a great trick for photos just like this. You basically take the file and edit the sky and truck seperately, then paint with light to superimpose.

Might want to check it out!

Here's my crack at it, I don't find the fence particularly distracting.

Cowboy,

Great shot! I agree that the truck is a tiny bit too shaded. Fedka did a good job of bringing is out without hitting the viewer over the head. I very much like Mikes monochrome version as well. Follow their lead.

BTW, what are you still doing in SoCal? I remember on a previous post a long time ago, you mentioned you were chomping at the bit to get back to Wyoming (or was it Montana?)

Also, if you don't mind me asking, where is this truck? Someone else mentioned "paint with light", and I would love to go after it with a tripod and a flashlight. Maybe a 30 second exposure, about a half an hour after your shot, and paint it liberally with a flashlight for fill, that way it would not be such a flat fill light that you might get from a strobe. This is the only definition of "paint with light" that I am aware of.

[EDIT: Just read a couple posts I missed, I see that Walczak had the same idea. Good call Walczak]

You are correct. Scott Kelby uses the term "paint with light" to refer to burning & dodging using images processed with different exposures.
