You can CC all you want... I won't cry.... However, if you have some suggestions, I will appreciate it...

I will be taking some classes in Photography and using Light... Then, I think the second class is Exposure....

ps.. I am at work and I don't have access to the original file. i would upload the original... I just don't understand light, metering, and exposure... I can't wait until I take these classes!!

Also, how would you crop this... I was told not to center a picture or use the rule of the 3rd?? Any suggestion for this little girl would be fun and appreciated.

ALSO, she has a lot of bumps on her face... Should I use photoshop on the face, neck, and the hands? Do you do the entire body to avoid mix match colors and tones??

The class will help. A light meter will not do you any good if you don't understand the principles of exposure to begin with.

As for the images...

The crop on the second one would have worked as it was if you had not chopped off the feet.

As for skin fixing... I always apply any global skin treatments to ALL of the skin showing, but blemish removal like bumps, zits, and cuts or scars are site only treatments.

Just remember, the rule of thirds is not a requirement, and it's not the best way to compose every picture. It's just a concept that sometimes works.

The composition of the second shot is awkward, partly because of the cut-off feet as mentioned, partly because of the air vent in the wall close to her head, and partly because of the combination of colors in the grass, wall, shirt and pants.

Two things will help with composition. First, take lots of shots from lots of different angles. Electrons are cheap. Evaluating the shots later will help you gradually learn what works and what doesn't.

Secondly, practice by composing images loosely, with plenty of room around the subject. Then you can experiment by cropping the images in different ways.

Be patient with yourself. Nobody learns this stuff overnight.
