Rules question...when the ball hits the batter as in your "OUCH" photo, is he "out" or does he just not run and advance to the other wicket (with any apologies for mis naming any cricket terms!).

Not out just bloody sore and bruised and stays were he is unless the ball was going to hit the stumps then he can be given out LBW leg before wicket.

Very nice set Andrew. I assume you used your 400 f/2.8 for these ? did you use tele-converter as well ? I also have the 400 f/2.8, but it dust doesn't have the reach for cricket. I used the 1.4tc connected to the 400 on the 1D MkII N, but the pics are too soft. I think I will have to invest in a 600mm ? What do you think?

Well, according to the EXIF data, these were taken at 560mm. 400*1.4 = 560, so I'd say its a pretty sure bet he was using a 400 2.8 + 1.4 TC.
