I'm having a difficult time trying to figure out how people do this to entice couples to buy more prints...

Someone please explain this to me because I'm wee-tall-did!

Sorry maybe I should leave an example.

So my buddy, to entice his couples he says he offers them a $500 print credit.

I know with our online print companies we can adjust pricing and make our own price lists so I see what he's getting at.

If a print costs me $1 and my price list that customers see says the same photo costs $2 then I will make $1 profit if they purchase said picture from my print company.

So then with this same price list where my cost is $1 per photo and they pay $2. If they spend $500 and get their 250 pictures, I will have a $250 profit. But then since this is a print "credit" then am I supposed to give them their $500 back after they order their prints? How is this a "CREDIT" if they still have to spend the money to get the prints? I don't see where any profit is to be made from this...

I'm sure this post will get moved to another forum, soon...but...

I think you are misunderstanding the point of the credit, according to your last post. Let's say I charge $2000 for a package... and offer a $500 credit. That would mean that the client gets to choose $500 in prints without paying a penny, unless they go over that $500 limit.

This would be instead of offering a $1500 or similar package and "hoping" that the client will purchase $500 in prints.

Yeah I got that much. But my buddy says:

"or you can offer them as ad-ons to an existing package.."

I think he's just messing with my head trying to confuse me......

So if I have a $2000 package that doesn't include a $500 print credit, I can offer the bride to include the $500 print credit in which they pay the $500. Then what? I give them the $500 back after they order their prints?

No, the 500$ goes towards their print order. You have to give them an incentive to use that 500$ print credit though, like - get 700$ worth of prints for 500$.

Using a print credit is also a way for them to choose exactly what prints they want (8x10, 2 5x7s, 3 12x18s) instead of you telling them what they want in your package.
