Just wondering if anyone that has obtained a license to play music on your website and/or give music on a dvd slides how to your clients can give me some direction. Did you go through SOCAN or did you go another route? I would like to add some music to my website and to DVD slide hows and wanted to get some advice form others that have done this on the potential cost and steps.

Thanks!
Denise

Hey Denise, I haven't actually got the licenses for anything yet, but I did contact SOCAN about it a few weeks back to see if they could tell me definitively what I need. I'll forward you the email I got form them tonight when I'm home if you want.

I use layered tracks of royalty free libraries.

I find that nothing can beat the ability to score your own track to precisely match the mood of the pictures.

It may not be mainstream songs but at the same it is a more unique match.

In the US there is a similar way of getting access to some mainstream songs but typically the cost is too high and the really popular stuff is not usually on the menu.
