Please critique my Sea Gull photo - Thanks

I do realize the bottom is clipped alittle but I think it looks ok. Taken with 40d w/ 100-400L

Over all I think this is a really nice shot. As you said, the bottom of the wing is clipped a tad, but you're close enough that you could isolate those wing tips into their own layer in PS and just "stretch" the background down a bit (and then trim a little off the top to give you the same crop/format). I also might dodge around the face/eye just a little bit to make it stand out a little better too. I would also punch up the saturation a bit too...but that's just my personal preference.

Otherwise, nice capture...very crisp and excellent detail.

There's a lot of clipping in the sunlit portion of the bird's body, causing a lack of detail in the feathers. The dark background compelled the light meter to overexpose the subject. Time of day is not your friend, as the side of the face is shadowed. Try shooting in morning or late afternoon for a more pleasing angle of light.
